I am accepting new clients who are in need of music therapy services. My services include early-intervention and school-aged services for a variety of disabilities. Sessions are typically 30 minutes and occur once per week.
Some examples of children that could benefit from music therapy might exhibit symptoms of ADD & ADHD, autism or Asberger’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, specific learning disabilities, visual impairments, speech or language impairments, or Down syndrome. I accept clients with diagnosed disabilities and also those without any diagnosis. As long as the parents have concerns with the child’s development, I will address those concerns through music therapy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Music Therapy services will start with a consultation to determine whether the client might benefit from music therapy. Please bring any useful information with you to the consultation such as your child's IEP and/or goals from other therapies.
An assessment will be given in the first session to evaluate skills and identify areas that may need improvement.
The therapist will create an individualized therapy plan with goals for the client.
Regular 30 minute Music Therapy sessions will then occur once per week which include customized musical activities to help the client reach the therapeutic goals.
Documentation of progress will be taken each session and is made available to the client at the client’s request.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Music Therapy sessions typically include a wide range of instruments including a piano, guitar, drums, harp, dulcimer, Qchord, and many percussion and rhythm instruments from around the world.
I strive to make the environment comfortable and inviting for clients who want to come to explore music and learn while having fun.
